چکیده

In this paper we present the results on Raman-active modes calculation in achiral (n, n) and (n, 0) carbon nanotubes (CNTs). vibrational spectra are derived as the eigenvalues of corresponding dynamical matrix at the Γ-point of Brillouin zone. Diagonal components and α xy (= α yx) are the only non-zero components of polarization tensor. Selection rules for Raman-active modes are determined by direct estimations of matrix elements responsible for the intensities of corresponding vibrational transitions. Few E 2g modes can be non-Raman-active because of their " fine " vibrational structure. We claim that numbers of Raman-active modes for achiral CNTs are: 5 ((n, n)

Determination of exciton-phonon coupling elements in single-walled carbon nanotubes by Raman overtone analysis.

Raman excitation profiles are obtained and compared for carbon nanotube radial breathing mode (RBM) fundamental and overtone vibrations for 5 specific chiralities. Fitting of the Raman excitation data is performed using Raman transform theory. The Huang-Rhys factors obtained from the modeling are directly related to the magnitude of the RBM exciton-phonon coupling element, which is shown to be ...

Chirality Assignment of Micelle-Suspended Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes Using Coherent Phonon Oscillations

We report on a new high-resolution optical spectroscopy, coherent phonon measurement, for determining the chiral index of carbon nanotubes. Using femtosecond pump-probe spectroscopy, we demonstrate the real-time observation of lattice vibrations in individualized single-walled carbon nanotubes in an aqueous surfactant solution. Almost all available radial breathing modes in the Fourier transfor...

Plasmon-Enhanced Raman Scattering by Carbon Nanotubes Optically Coupled with Near-Field Cavities

We realize the coupling of carbon nanotubes as a one-dimensional model system to near-field cavities for plasmon-enhanced Raman scattering. Directed dielectrophoretic assembly places single-walled carbon nanotubes precisely into the gap of gold nanodimers. The plasmonic cavities enhance the Raman signal of a small nanotube bundle by a factor of 10(3). The enhanced signal arises exclusively from...

A RIGOROUS COMPARISON OF METHODS FOR MULTI-WALLED CARBON NANOTUBES PURIFICATION USING RAMAN SPECTROSCOPY

Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNT’s) were synthesized using chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method in a fluidized bed reactor under the flow of methane and hydrogen gases. A Cobalt-molybdenum/magnesium oxide (Co-Mo/MgO) nanocatalyst was used as the catalyst of the process. The samples were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyses. The effects of d...

Modelling and simulation of vibrationnal properties of carbon nanotubes and derivatives

The aim of the present paper is to identify the main Raman vibrational features of carbon nanotubes and derivatives. In this goal, Raman active mode calculations have been performed on different single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) and double-walled carbon nanotubes (DWCNTs) as well as peapods. The comparison between the calculations performed on these different systems allows us to identify...
